Turning Moments Into Memories.
The Historic Fireside Inn is quintessential Breckenridge
Meet Our Hosts!
In April of 2020, Madi, Jonah, and Margot Johnson seized the opportunity to move up to the great rockies, to help out with running the day to day operations at the inn. In May of 2021, they moved onsite and took over as the new hosts! The Johnson’s have always been adventure bound, with a deep appreciation for nature’s gifts, and love of the open road.
The Owners
Carey and Marci Peach are both born and raised Texans who have always felt the call to adventure, and the great outdoors. They lived for a couple of years in Mill Valley, CA, just over the Golden Gate bridge. In California, they bought a boat, and “camped” on the San Francisco bay, the Napa River, hiked Mt. Tamalpais, and developed a love for great valley wine. Carey and Marci have had a dream of owning a bed and breakfast since 2008, after a great B & B stay in Fredericksburg, TX for Oktoberfest - the Fireside Inn is the realization of that dream.
The Fireside’s History
Nearly 200 years old, the Fireside Inn’s original structure was constructed in the 1860’s, and was occupied by the Fletchers, one of the first families to ever settle in the magical town of Breckenridge. Eli Fletcher became a well-known business owner and ski maker. The next family thought to occupy the inn was the Curtins, with two generations living in the home before it was boarded up in 1960. Seven years later, it was purchased by the Wamsleys, who opened the original structure as an antique shop, and added on to the rear of the home for living quarters. In 1975, Gail Galbreath purchased the home and converted it into an inn/hostel/B&B. Continually operating since that time, the Fireside Inn changed owners three more times. The last owners, Niki and Andy Harris, lived onsite and ran the inn for 19 years before we, Marci and Carey Peach, purchased it in April of 2020.
As one of two hostels, and the only B&B in Breckenridge’s Historic District, the Fireside Inn has a steady trickling stream of travelers year round, with guests from all around the globe: winter skiers, summer bikers, hikers/backpackers, families on vacation, weary travelers on long journeys, whatever your reason, we welcome folks from all walks of life with open hearts. With rooms ranging from hostel dorm style beds, a private suite with hot tub, double and triple occupancy rooms, all traveler types are accommodated. Guests can be found each night in the common areas coming together, breaking bread, and exchanging stories before heading out to adventure the next day!
Now, almost 200 years later, the inn’s homeyness and warmth are still ever-inviting. We are so grateful for all of the hands that have played a part in making the Fireside Inn what it is today, and consider ourselves very fortunate to be here, as part of the ever growing Fireside family. We look forward to the years to come, serving our guests, seeing shining faces old, and new, warming their hearts, here at the Fireside!
